California Assault Rifle Awareness

  • 05/30/2018
  • 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
  • SVSC Pistol House

Name of Event: Assault Rifles Featureless Show and Tell

When: May 30th 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Where: Pistol House.

Register at: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090f48adac22a3fd0-featureless

Purpose of the Event:

The Assault Weapon Registration deadline is June 30th. This means your formerly legal Bullet Button AR-15 either needs to be registered as an Assault Weapon or be configured to meet the definition of Not An Assault Weapon before this date in order to legally retain it. The common term for this configuration is "Featureless". This means it contains non of the so called evil features that classify it as and Assault Weapon.

Thanks to good ole Yankee ingenuity multiple options have sprung up on the market to allow you to be featureless and avoid the registration.

We will be providing hands on examples of some of these options along with discussing the CRPA guidelines published to help you meet the "Featureless" definition if you choose to not register.

Hopefully this will give AR owners a chance to actually hold and evaluate different configurations to determine witch works best for them along with a better understanding of the details to remain in legal compliance.

 Guest Vendor:

Call To Arms will be at the event. They are a local Gunsmith who provides engraving services. The will have samples of engraving options and will be scheduling appointments for their services should you desire it.

 Access to Event:

Members will access the property with their badge per normal procedure. An RSO will be at the gate for non-members.

Request for Featureless Configuration:

One configuration we do not have and would like to present is one using the "Patriot Pin". If you have a rifle with this configuration and would like to attend the event to share it, please contact either the Range Master or one of the Santa Cruz Second Amendment Supporter Admins so we can do a quick evaluation to ensure legal compliance and grant permission for the rifle to be brought.

Important Rules for the Event:

 1) Please use the sign up sheet link either in the Club email or pinned to the top of the Santa Cruz Second Amendment Supporters page on Facebook to register and select whether or not you would like to opt in for Pizza. Pizza is $3.00 per person at the door to help cover the out of pocket expense of the individual organizers. It helps us make sure there is enough but not too much.

2) This is a Non-Live Fire event. No firearms allowed that have not been approved by the organizers and or Range Master.

3) No alcohol permitted

4) Even though it’s a Non-Live Fire Event, all Club Safety Operating Procedures will be in effect.
