Tasks proposed for 09/23/2017 & 10/28/2017 work-parties.

Actual work will be dependent on attendees.  Whatever isn't done 9/23 will carry over to 10/28.

General cleanup:

  • Sweep out houses.
  • Run the magnet sweep to pick up staples etc.
  • Replace corrugated backing on target frames.
  • Rake target areas as needed.

General inventory,  identify materials needed:

  • Examine condition and qty of materials in Rifle and Pistol houses.
  • Make a list of materials needed.
  • Compare list to content of tool shed, Connex box.
  • Present result to Facilities (or any board member)

1 - Lead stilling pond for Pistol range – let's finish it, and make Jeff Ritchie proud.

  • Connect the output to the rock outfall - using dirt, a little concrete and splash blocks (material is at range).
  • Backfill the block walls with dirt.
  • Prep and coat pit sides and bottom, using water, dilute muriatic acid & Dryloc coating material (material is at range).

2 - Rifle range entry area storm washout repair wrap-up.

  • Finish the concrete block retaining wall near Rifle range path, to help keep the gabion/repair rocks from sliding down.  Align blocks, add rebar, fill blocks with concrete (material is at range).

3 – Reduce trip hazard at Pistol range entry.

  • Add railing boards between Yellow Pole and wall, at the step in front of pistol house.
  • Add a border at concrete step, to keep dirt from sliding down (using PT wood, or a little Quikcrete).

4 – Rifle range Clean water bypass drain - Corner repair in cleanouts.

  • Make simple plywood forms and fill with concrete. (material is at range)

5 – Prep and re-paint the “red safe lines” across shooting lanes.  (material “should be” in toolshed)

6 – Replace the “consumed” or shot-up wood protectors on target berm structures and sheds (material is at range).

7 - Continue improving front gate parking lot entry path.

  • Clean up the 3 board steps outside of gate, towards parking lot.
  • Shovel, level & rake.
  • Add side boards.
  • Level and add drain rock (material is at range).

8 – Fabricate covers for plastic barrel cisterns at Pistol house.  Currently temporarily covered with corrugated cardboard.  Plywood? Plastic? Wire cloth had been used, but requires adding insecticide to prevent mosquitoes.

9 – Rifle range Clean water bypass drain – Cross-range culvert clearing.

  • Need member advise and help:  Need to clear the large cross-range corrugated plastic culvert.  It is about half-full of dirt. - maybe fishtape, rope and draghooks?   Or dig down into middle, cut pipe, clean out, then patch hole?

10 – Stripe the shooting lanes, using athletic field striper.  This is an experiment to simplify target stand placement, reduce the “un-intentional target damage”)

11 – Install astro-turf mats in Pistol & Rifle house target access aisles.

  • Need to be fastened down, removeable for service and cleaning.

(material should be at range, otherwisewill require a workparty-material-run to Scarborough)

12 – Clear tree debris from Pistol house roof

  • (some was removed in August work party).

13 – Clear large wood debris from the creek.

  • Creek section between the bridge outside entry gate, and pistol lead stilling pond rock outflow.
  • Remove branches from creek, and place on south side of creek (opposite SVSC).
