Thanks to everyone who showed up yesterday (4/29/17) for the work party, and particularly to Michael A. Neal for bringing his skid-steer tractor to help clean up the pistol range backstops, clean out the mud and rocks by the front gate, and fill in some potholes on the back access road. We got a lot done cleaning up winter storm damage, building target frames and raking up debris on the hillside. Thanks All!

I'm pleased to report that once again The Scotts Valley Sportsmen's Club has won an NRA Gold Club award, this time for 2017. We have now won this award for at least four years in a row. (that's as far back as I know, if anyone knows farther back please let me know.)

Many thanks to Jeff Reber of Reber Construction in Santa Cruz for donating his time and his tractor to re-grade the back road entrance to our range! Winter storms had made it hazardous for anything except a large 4x4 truck, with deep ruts that could damage a car or light truck.

I WILL BE AT THE MEETING TUESDAY EVENING, 2/28 TO COLLECT DUES FROM ANYONE WHO HASN'T PAID YET AND WANTS TO PAY IN PERSON.  I WILL ACCEPT CASH OR CHECKS.

If you haven't paid your 2017 dues yet, time is running out.  The deadline is Tuesday 2/28/17.  If you haven't paid your dues by March 1st, your gate card key will be turned off, your membership suspended and you will have to pay a $50 late fee along with your dues to restore your membership.

The quickest and easiest way to pay your dues is to pay using a credit card or paypal.  Open up your member profile from the home page of this web site and the web site will tell you if you haven't paid.  Follow the instructions on the screen to pay by credit card or PayPal.  Alternatively you can mail a check to the club at PO Box 66132, Scotts Valley, CA 95067.  If you mail a check in the last couple of days, send us an email to let us know that you did so we don't turn your key off prematurely.

A member reports that he lost a lens cap for his Leupold optics on the rifle range about 2 weeks ago. If anyone finds it, please email me (treasurer@scottsvalleysportsmen.com) and I'll put you in touch with the owner.

EDIT:  THE DUMPSTER HAS ARRIVED.  IF THE TRASH BAGS IN THE RIFLE OR PISTOL HOUSE ARE FULL, PLEASE HAUL THEM OUT TO THE DUMPSTER IN THE PARKING LOT!  iF YOU ARE CHANGING OUT THE CARDBOARD ON TARGET STANDS, TAKE THE OLD CARDBOARD AND PUT IT IN THE DUMPSTER.  THANKS!

Starting 12/20/2016 we will have a trash dumpster in the parking lot for range trash, which will be picked up by Greenwaste once a week.  Please note, however, that we have not hired any janitors to take trash bags from the Pistol and Rifle Houses to the dumpster.  We are still depending upon our members volunteering to take out the trash. If the trash bag in either house is full when you are leaving, please take it down to the dumpster and deposit it.  Please, no brass and NO DUD ROUNDS in the dumpster.
